The VIU experience does not end with the granting of your diploma. The Office of Career Services (OCS) is committed to working with recent graduates and long-term VIU alumni to help them meet their career potential. 

We also recognize that VIU alumni are the greatest resource for our current students in their job search processes. We invite and encourage VIU alumni to get involved in all aspects of OCS programming. In particular, we invite alumni to:

• Speak at an on-campus information session: These sessions provide students insight into the career paths and companies that match their skills and interests. Information sessions can also go hand in hand with on-campus recruiting or resume collections.
• Host a site visit or shadowing experience: Is your company in the Washington, DC metro area? If so, consider inviting one or more students to your office to experience first-hand what working “in the real world” is all about.
• Offer an internship: Many companies that do not have the need or funding to hire additional employees can benefit from hiring student interns. We encourage alumni to advocate to your employers on behalf of current VIU students in search of internship opportunities. Internships offer students valuable career experience and provide employers with fresh talent.
• Provide OCS with your career and contact information: Let us know where we can find you! Often, our students have questions about a particular career path. We would love to be able to put them in touch with you. This will also let us invite you to participate in future OCS events.
