MMIS Graduation Process
 

STEP 1
Read the following statements carefully:

1. Minimum GPA: Graduate students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

2. Degree Requirements: All degree requirements, academic and financial, will be verified by your department and the Registrar's Office. If you do not meet these requirements, you can not be awarded a degree.

3. Fee: The fee for graduation is $100 dollars for both graduate and undergraduate. The fee is NON-refundable. Please deposit $100 dollars to Accounting Office before you submit the 'Application for Graduation' form to the Registrar's Office.

4. Records: Records are sealed at graduation. No changes may be made to the academic record (transcript) after the degree has been awarded. All obligations whether academic or financial must be cleared before your records will be released.

5. Cancellation of Graduation Application: Students, who cancel their application or are cancelled by the Registrar’s Office, must reapply for graduation in order to be considered for a subsequent semester.

STEP 2

1. Download and fill out the 'Application for Graduation' form and 'Degree Audit' form.
2. Submit the completed 'Application for Graduation' form to the Registrar's Office. Attach $100 dollar receipt with the application.
3. Registrar's Office will review your application, provide you a summary of your curriculum work, and assign you an academic advisor.

STEP 3
1. Your advisor will review your completed application and if all academic requirements are fulfilled, it will be approved.
2. The approved application will then be sent to the Registrar's Office.
3. You will be contacted by the Office of the Registrar via your VIU email account once your application is received. E-mail will NOT be sent to any address except your official VIU email address.
Please remember, in order to graduate from Virginia International University you must fulfill all Department, Academic, Financial, and University Requirements. All requirements will be verified by your Department and the Registrar's Office. If you do not meet these requirements, you will not be awarded a degree. University has Graduation Appeals Process to consider written appeals from students who do not meet all requirements.
