Virginia International University – Student Government Association

Welcome to Virginia International University. Virginia International University Student Government should exist to advocate widely and deeply felt student interests; this will be accomplished through lobbying the administration at our university. Student Government shall also represent the student body on state and national issues of interest to students.

All students are urged to participate in Virginia International University’s student government. This organization is recognized by the faculty and administration as important to the students’ education and cultural experience. Through their participation, students can provide information that assists both the faculty and administration in strengthening the academic program and improving the collegiate life at VIU.

VIU SGA Mission Statement:
We, the SGA, serve and represent the student body in order to celebrate our diversity, enhance student involvement, create positive changes, and improve student learning within an engaging academic environment.

The mission of VIU SGA is to provide and improve the overall student experience by:

• Serving as an advocate for the rights and common interests of the students.
• Fostering student life, encouraging community involvement, and embracing diversity.
• Enhancing and preserving academic excellence and integrity.
• Acting as a liaison, between the student body, the university, and the external communities.
• Furthermore, we have to be devoted to fairness, accountability, and achieving the university’s mission while keeping the best interest of all students a priority.
