| Fatima Osipowicz Fatima Osipowicz has maintained an international background from birth. She was born in Germany and immigrated, as a child, to the United States where she was raised. She completed her undergraduate degree in the Romance languages at Georgian Court University in the US and then went abroad to master French at l'universite de Fribourg, Switzerland and Spanish in Barcelona, Spain. After she returned to the US, she began her graduate studies at Georgetown University and completed her Master's Degree at The American University in Washington, DC. She then went back overseas to take post graduate courses in St. Petersburg, Russia. In the United States, Fatima has worked in the field of academia for over twenty years. She was an adjunct professor and a full time instructor at The American University, instructed English as a Second Language for the Pan American Health Organization, Seikei University Program in the US, the Chuo University Program as well as the Sookmyung Women's University Programs in the US. In addition, she has been teaching in the pre-academic program for undergraduate and graduate students from the Commonwealth of Independent States for the International Research and Exchanges Board. She was also instrumental in the testing, preparing of needs assessment, designing, developing and teaching of English as a Second Language Program at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, DC. Her experience abroad spans many countries. In addition to extensive teaching overseas, she has been invited to work as a consultant. She has advised and collaborated with ministries of health and education, universities and government agencies. Fatima was assigned as a consultant by the World Health Organization to Havana, Cuba to evaluate, design and develop language programs. In the Middle East, she established and expanded an English for Special Purposes Program at the Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain. In Eastern Europe, Fatima was the first scholar from American University to be invited to teach and expand the English program at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland. Her work extended to Saint Petersburg, Russia and Kiev, Ukraine. In addition to a full and rewarding teaching career, Fatima interprets. The highlight was serving as one of the interpreters for the cosmonauts and astronauts of the Apollo-Soyuz crew when they were invited to Washington, DC by NASA. Currently, Fatima teaches various skills to different levels at Virginia International University. She also serves as an examiner on the Eurasian Undergraduate Exchange Program Selection Committee, a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, US Department of State.
