Kathleen Gillette-Mallard is Foreign Language Adjunct Faculty at Virginia International University teaching Spanish. She received her B.S. in Linguistics from Georgetown University and an MS in Applied Linguistics also from Georgetown University in 1986. Prior to that, Ms. Gillette Mallard received a certificate in Spanish Culture and Language from the Universidad de Madrid, Spain, where she lived for over 7 years. She is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Administration and Supervision from the Curry School of Education, University of Virginia at the Falls Church, Northern Virginia campus. Her area of focus is the non-traditional adult learner. Whenever possible, Mrs. Gillette-Mallard travels to Spanish speaking countries. Kathy has worked as a US liaison with the founders of the Centro de Educación para el Desarrollo Rural (Center of Education for Rural Development), and of the Oscar Arnulfo Romero University in northern El Salvador. Ms. Gillette-Mallard has also taught English as a second language and managed the lab for the Family English Literacy Program at the Multicultural Career Intern Program in Washington, D.C. She also served 8 years as the Program Development coordinator.
