| | Mariel Haig Mariel Haig was born in Miami, Florida and spent the first 8 years of life in Morocco and Spain. Her family then moved to Detroit Michigan where she continued her schooling. She went on to receive her Bachelors degree from Wayne State University, a large urban school in Detroit. Her post graduate studies were done at George Mason University and the University of Virginia. She is a licensed certified foreign language teacher in the state of Virginia. Her work experience includes 10 years in the airline industry in a variety of ground positions, in various cities for British Airways and Continental airlines. She has worked 12 years in the field of education with the majority of time in the Fairfax County School System. This work included being a liaison for ESL students transitioning into mainstream science classes, mentoring and tutoring students in a unique program sponsored by Fairfax City secondary schools, to help students succeed culturally and linguistically in the U. S. public school environment. In addition, she has been a classroom teacher for secondary Spanish and French classes. In 2000 she was involved in a grant program in conjunction with George Mason University and she was a presenter and Nabe (National Association of Bilingual Education) in Austin, Texas. She has also taught ESL at Eurocentres for languages a Swiss based private school. Currently Mariel is an active licensed realtor. Her love for both education and the business world is reflected in her experience. Using education and business and the arts (her third love) together adds balance and variety. It has also provided a unique stage to develop lessons and ideas that provide real life applications that are often esthetically synchronized. Mariel lives in Fairfax, with her 2 children.
