Each semester students from all over the United States transfer to Virginia International University. For students who are interested in coming to our campus in Fairfax, Virginia to take their courses, the transfer process is quick and easy.

To begin the process of transferring to VIU, please follow these easy steps:

1. Submit the required application documents and fees
2. Submit a copy of the following documents to VIU:
   • Official Transcript from your current college or university
   • Copy of all previous I-20’s
   • Copy of your I-94
   • Copy of your Visa

Once the VIU Admissions Office receives all of your application documents and fees, and your application packet is complete, an Admissions Officer will begin to evaluate your file for admission. Once admitted to the University, you will receive a letter of Admission, as well as an "F-1 Transfer Form" that needs to be completed by your current college or university. Your current school will need to fill out this F-1 Transfer form and send it back to VIU. This form will allow VIU to transfer your SEVIS information. Once your SEVIS information is released to VIU, we can create a new I-20 for you to come study at VIU!
