9:00am – 9:30am

• Go to the front desk and register for Admissions Check-In.
• Sign-in for the Orientation sessions in the Conference Center.
• Receive your admission package consisting of important information from different departments at VIU.
• Enjoy a light American breakfast.
• Sign up for the Metro & Bus Transportation tour.
• Meet with and talk to other new students as well as current students of VIU who are ready to assist you!

9:30am – 10:20am

• Welcome.
• Presentation by International Student Services Office: Learn to maintain your F1 status.
• Presentation by VIU Admissions Office: Learn about what lies ahead upon arriving to VIU.
• Meet with Fairfax Police officer: Learn safety tips and receive guidance.

10:20am – 10:25am

• Short break; meet with VIU staff and students in the Conference Center.

10:25am – 10:55am

• Presentation by Registrar’s Office: Learn about academic regulations at VIU.
• Presentation by Health Insurance representative: Learn about health insurance at VIU.
• Presentation by IT Department representative: Learn about campus email, technical assistance, student portal, and more.

10:55am – 11:15am

• Time for a group picture with your fellow Summer I 2013 batch mates! You will be led as a group to the courtyard behind the Waples building for the picture.

11:15am – 12:00pm

• Campus tour: Current students of VIU will take you around the three buildings of VIU and introduce you to the different departments, and services.

12:00pm – 1:00pm

• Lunch!
• Vendor Fair : Banks, cell phone providers, housing providers, the Fairfax library, a volunteer organization, and more will be here to meet you and give you information.
• Also present will be VIU student clubs, the registrar, and a housing representative.
• Admissions check-In : Meet with the Admissions Officers to complete your check-in and get your picture taken for your VIU ID.
• Sign up for the Metro & Bus tour.

1:15pm – 3:00pm

• Metro & Bus tour : All new students who signed up for the tour will be led in a group to the bus stop near VIU, given a ride to the Vienna Metro (train) station on the Cue bus, receive a brief orientation to the Vienna station, and then ride back to VIU. This tour will be sponsored by VIU for all interested new students.
