Welcome to Health Insurance

Health Insurance is mandatory for all students at Virginia International University. Students are given the option of purchasing health insurance through VIU or purchasing health insurance through their own outside vendor.

VIU Health Insurance: VIU has partnered with Global Secutive, LLC to offer our students affordable health care. For your benefit, safety and convenience, Global Secutive (Global Secutive, LLC is a fully licensed US insurance agency, with offices in the US and Germany, providing insurance products for the intercultural exchange market.) has negotiated with International Health Insurance and United Healthcare a reasonable and comprehensive health insurance policy for international students.

The new reduced rate will be $550 per year and it will be charged annually effective with the fall semester 2010. The coverage includes September 1st 2010 to August 31st 2011. This amount is due by August 1st 2010. If you currently carry insurance from another provider, you have to submit proof of insurance coverage for the same period by the same due date, otherwise $550 will be added to your account. This waiver will be verified at the beginning of each following semester. If you are a graduating student, you can fill out a last semester waiver form and pay prorated insurance for the semester. All other students will be charged annually. If you withdraw or transfer out on the next semester, after submitting the required withdrawal form, VIU will refund the prorated insurance charged.
