John L. Bennett, M.L.S.

Mr. Bennett is a native of Arlington Virginia. He holds a Master of Library Science degree from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec and a B.A. in English Literature from Windham College where he graduated cum laude. In July 2005, Mr. Bennett received a Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) from International House in Krakow, Poland.
Since joining VIU in the fall of 2006, Mr. Bennett has been Director of the VIU Library where he has overseen a significant expansion of library resources and services. Additionally, Mr. Bennett has also taught a variety of ESL courses at VIU, including grammar, pronunciation, listening and speaking, reading and writing, and a number of advanced level electives.
Prior to joining VIU, Mr. Bennett had over 25 years of experience as a management consultant providing services to a wide range of clients, including federal and state government agencies, corporations, and interest groups. He was a senior analyst and project director at several consulting firms, including A. T. Kearney, Inc. Mr.
Bennett's primary focus as a consultant was the analysis of complex issues related to federal occupational safety and health and environmental regulations and policies. He is an accomplished writer who has prepared numerous technical reports as well as informational materials intended for wider public distribution.
