Be sure that you have a valid VISA.

Be sure that you have the ticket for the flight. Important Notice about the flight schedules. If you will be having a connecting flight, allow at least 1-2 hour between the two flights to avoid missing the next one. Tip: If possible, try to make the connecting flight in Europe (or elsewhere) rather than within USA. If you have the connecting flight within USA, then you will have to take your baggage, pass through the customs and check-in again. If you have the connecting flight in Europe, for example, your baggages will be transfered to the next plane. (Just check with your airline)

Make a brief research about the place you will be going.

Allow yourself some time to settle down in US. So schedule your arrival at least one-two weeks prior to beginning of the semester. Do not forget that VIU will be happy to help you settle down as quickly as possible.

Prepare your baggages. Most airline companies allow up to two baggages (20-30 kg max. each). You can also take a small one with you into the airplane.So be prepared!
