VIU students elected below individuals to represent them for 2011 - 2012 term.

Preamble:
The Student Union (SU) at Virginia International University (VIU) is dedicated to ensuring student rights and obligations as responsible members of the university community. The SU is a form and way to voice and uphold the opinions of students and initiate and implement policies governing their activities. Through the SU, the students seek to: foster and support the ideas and wishes of the student body; provide a communication network within the student body; engender cooperation between all student groups, clubs and organizations; act as a liaison between the administration, faculty and staff and the student body; and provide an atmosphere of community within the university.
Purpose and Mission:
The mission of the SU is to strengthen student participation in the university by overseeing the formation of student clubs and by contributing to the university’s decision-making process through formal channels. Annual elections will be held for the office of President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.
The Student Union shall:
- Serve as a forum for the discussion of matters pertaining to the welfare of students at VIU.
- Serve as a liaison between the students and the faculty and staff.
- Foster unity among students at VIU by sponsoring social activities and other events.
- Oversee the creation of student clubs.
Requirements:
- Must be a full-time student in good academic standing (graduate applicant minimum GPA 3.25, undergraduate applicant minimum GPA of 2.25).
- May not be on any academic or non-academic probation or warning period.
- Must have been a full time student at VIU for at least one semester.
- Must have continuously met all financial obligations and left no outstanding issues with the university administration.
- Must submit a professional resume with this application form.
Two reference letters are not required but strongly recommended.
