Health Insurance is mandatory for all students at Virginia International University. Students are given the option of purchasing health insurance through VIU or purchasing health insurance through their own outside vendor.

VIU Health Insurance: VIU has partnered with Global Secutive, LLC to offer our students affordable health care. For your benefit, safety and convenience, Global Secutive (Global Secutive, LLC is a fully licensed US insurance agency, with offices in the US and Germany, providing insurance products for the intercultural exchange market.) has negotiated with International Medical Group (IMG) a reasonable and comprehensive health insurance policy for international students.

Student Health Insurance is renewed semi-annually. The renewal dates are for the Fall 2011 semester (September 1st – December 31st) and for the Spring/Summer 2012 semesters combined (January 1st – August 31st). The deadline for students to renew their health insurance through VIU is scheduled during the month prior to the start date of each renewal. If you are a graduating student, you can fill out a last semester waiver form and pay prorated insurance for the semester. All other students will be charged annually. If you withdraw or transfer out on the next semester, after submitting the required withdrawal form, VIU will refund the prorated insurance charged.
