Fairfax University of America Introduces Scholarships to Attract Students From Abroad
Fairfax, VA – August 21, 2002 – Fairfax University of America, an independent, non-profit university in Northern Virginia, has recently announced the creation of several scholarships aimed at attracting students from overseas. The Fairfax-based school believes that these added incentives will be an ideal way of providing better access to the American university system.

“The scholarship program offers something for students from all over the world,” said Dr. Isa Sarac, president of the university. “By offering the scholarships, we hope to encourage applicants to continue to pursue their studies here in the United States.”

The Fairfax University of America Scholarship Program is designed to provide encouragement and public recognition to students who have demonstrated academic excellence. The program is supported by generous contributions from individuals, organizations, corporations and foundations. Scholarships range from $250 to $7,200 per year.

The primary criterion for awards from the new program is outstanding academic performance. Financial need is another important consideration, especially for students from developing nations. The new programs for the 2002-2003 academic year are: the FXUA Peace Scholarship, the FXUA Academic Excellence Scholarship, the Student Assistance Scholarship, the Women’s Scholarship and the Latin American Leadership Scholarship.

FXUA is an independent international school specializing in ESL, business and computer instruction for international students. Its students come from over 15 countries around the world. Its mission is to provide a high-quality education focused on English language fluency, business acumen and the technical skills needed for the 21st century.
