Press Release (April 22, 2004)

Fairfax, VA – Ms. Rebecca Williams – Grassroots Coordinator in the NRA-Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) Grassroots Division, gave a speech on the development and implementation of NRA’s strategies and explained the Second Amendment and the issue of “gun control.”

While the issue of gun control has long been debated in detail in the U.S., this was a new topic for most of VIU’s students since in many of their countries personal gun ownership is not even an option. Ms. Williams gave an informative presentation on the questions surrounding gun control, particularly with respect to the laws at different levels of government. She also entertained questions from the students and staff, who found the information thought-provoking and an enlightening insight into this aspect of American society. VIU officials announced that the event would be repeated each year as new students enroll.

Virginia International University was established in 1998 and has grown each year, with a current enrollment of approximately 170 students from over 33 different countries. VIU caters to the needs of domestic and international students by offering high-quality, affordable education. VIU currently offers Undergraduate, Graduate, Certificate, Diploma, and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs. Degrees include Business Management, Computer Science, and an MBA.
