Virginia International University (VIU) Hosted Immigration Policy Forum
Fairfax, VA – Virginia International University hosted the Immigration Policy Forum on Saturday, March 3, 2018. The Forum was coordinated by Dr. Klara Bilgin, Dean, of the School of Public and International Affairs.
The discussion focused on Continuing the Immigration Story: Northern Virginia. Mr. Tom Gjelten, NPR News Host and Author of the book “A Nation of Nations: A Great American Immigration Story,” presented his perspective on current immigration issues at the event. Other event speakers included: Johnathan Smith, Director of Litigation, Muslim Advocates; Sophia L. Gregg, Attorney, Immigrant Advocacy Program, Legal Aid Justice Center; Delegate Jennifer Barton Boysko, Virginia House of Delegates; Allie Boldt, Counsel, DEMOS; and Sookyung Oh, D.C. Area Director, NAKASEC. Supporting vigorous discussion of current trends and issues impacting our current U.S. Immigration Policy was a hot topic enjoyed by all attendees. VIU is proud to host events that serve our community and encourage healthy debate.
