Virginia International University to Host Annual Fundraising Reception
Fairfax, VA – October 28, 2002 – Virginia International University has scheduled its first-ever fundraising reception dinner for November 14th, 2002 at 6:30 pm at the Tysons Corner Ritz Carlton. The Ritz-Carlton, which is officially sponsoring the event, along with sponsors and donors US Airways, Morton’s Steakhouse,Marriott Fairview, Best Western Hotel, Key Bridge Marriott, will provide dinner and drinks to guests, donors and students and staff of VIU, along with door-prizes and brief speeches. Tickets are available through VIU or any of its staff, and the cost is $100 per couple, or $50 for a single guest.
The formal event is expected to raise money for the development and scholarship funds of the university. These funds enable the University to secure student scholarships, add and improving existing programs at the University, as well as expand our recruitment efforts.
“The scholarship fund is an important resource for our students,” says Dr. Bishnu Poudel, Vice President of the University. “We generally serve students whose dream is to study in the Untied States, but who may not have the resources for it. Therefore, it is important that we secure their future with the good will of our supporters,” Dr. Poudel added.
The reception will be attended by dignitaries from various embassies and consulates in Washington, DC, as well as by business leaders from companies located in the Northern Virginia area. There will also be speeches by students who represent 19 different countries from around the world.
Virginia International University is home to students from all over the world. It is an independent, non-profit university that offers courses in computers, business and English language proficiency. It currently has over 150 students from over 19 different countries from around the world.
