SLUG: United Central Bank Donates Tuition Scholarships to Seven
Virginia International University Students

Fairfax, Virginia: Seven Virginia International University (VIU) students are the recipients the 2007-2008 James Yoo Scholarship. The new scholarship, named for the founder and president of United Central Bank, was awarded to deserving VIU students on the basis of academic performance and potential.

The 2007-2008 James Yoo Scholarship recipients are:

Abhinaya Rajbahak (Nepal), $1,000, MMIS Program
Betel Aberra Abebe (Ethiopia), $500, MBA Program
Cecilia Venson (Brazil), $1,000, BBA Program
Djahongir Sultanov (Uzbekistan), $500, MBA Program
Javkhlantugs Enkhtuvshin (Mongolia), $500, BBA
Yana Vladimirovna Ryabtseva (Russia), $500, MBA Program
Yobi Park (South Korea), $1,000, BBA Program

According to Dr. K. Habib Khan, VIU’s provost, Mr. Yoo, Nassarullah Khan (United Central Bank’s Senior Executive Vice President and Regional Manager) and Ajaz Siddiqi (United Central Bank’s Vice President) were all instrumental in making the James Yoo Scholarship possible. “We are all so grateful for United Central Bank’s unwavering support of our educational mission,” Khan says.

VIU student Cecilia Venson (Uzbekistan) was thrilled to win a $1,000 James Yoo Scholarship toward her Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree program. Says Venson, “United Central Bank’s generous donation has made a huge difference to me and has enabled me to pursue my degree.” Venson adds, “I will be forever grateful to Mr. Yoo and to United Central Bank for making this scholarship possible.”

Virginia International University, located in Fairfax, offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in business administration and computer science, a four-level English as a Second Language (ESL) program, and diploma programs in International Business and Computer Programming. All VIU degree programs have been approved by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV).
