Voice From the Field

Fairfax, Virginia – Virginia International University (VIU)’s School of Education announces its inaugural “Voices from the Field” speaker series. This innovative speaker series highlights local community leaders, teachers, and visionaries to speak on the ever expanding field of education. The Director of the School of Education, Kevin Martin stated that the series “seeks to promote learning beyond the classroom that will allow for engagement with professionals in the community.”

The first event in the series features the Director of Program Evaluation, Mika Hama from The Global Language Network on the topic of “Taking Advantage of Service-Learning Opportunities for Teachers”. The event will take place on September 19th from 2:00pm to 3:00 pm at Waples Mill campus located at 11200 Waples Mill Rd, Fairfax, VA 22030.

The second event in the series will feature Executive Director, George Rado from Capital English Academy speaking on the topic of “Language Program Administration”. The event will take place on October 3rd from 2:00pm to 3:00 pm at Waples Mill campus located at 11200 Waples Mill Rd, Fairfax, VA 22030.

The “Voices from the Field” events are free and open to the public.
