The Virginia International University 7-Week English Program is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation for the period August 2017 through August 2018 and agrees to uphold the CEA Standards for English Language Programs and Institutions. CEA Standards of Accreditation
CEA publishes its standards for accreditation here: http://cea-accredit.org/about-cea/standards. These standards outline the criteria for becoming and remaining an accredited program or institution. These standards address the regulations set forth by the U.S. Department of Education, as well as outlining best practices in English language teaching and administration.
Filing a Complaint to CEA
Virginia International University’s formal complaint procedures can be found here. If, after following the procedures outlined in VIU’s policy or at any time during the process, anyone (student, staff, faculty, or community member) who felt that their concerns had not been resolved satisfactorily with respect to the Intensive English as a Second Language Program, can file a written complaint to CEA directly.
