VIU Volunteer Agreement Form

  • As a Volunteer, I Agree To/Understand the Following:

    • Volunteers must communicate their availability for events at the beginning of each semester to better plan off-site volunteer events.
    • Volunteers must be willing to attend explanatory volunteer event meetings or trainings when necessary.
    • If you sign up for long-term volunteering event, you commit to all of the agreed upon times and activities.
    • If you cannot attend an event for which you signed up, you must inform the Student Affairs Department 48 hours before the event. This is to show respect for the event organizers and to allow time to find a replacement volunteer.
    • Volunteer logs must be kept in the volunteer binder in the Student Affairs Department. This binder will be brought to events for students to log their volunteer hours.
    • For volunteer hours to be recognized, volunteer logs are to be completely filled out (including in/out) by the volunteer and must be initialed by a staff member each time you volunteer.
    • References will only be provided if you have a volunteer log on file and we can only provide a reference for what is recorded on the sheet and signed by your supervisor (the person supervising activity).
    • If you consent to having your picture taken and/or video, taken VIU is permitted to use pictures and video containing your image for university purposes (Ex. Posting on VIU Facebook pages, Blogs, Websites, Image Galleries, Advertisements). VIU also has permission to use images where student are in the background.
  • Reminder to Volunteers:

    • Keep track of your volunteer hours so we can provide you a reference if the future if you need one.
    • Check back with the Student Affairs Department regularly to see if there are any volunteer opportunities.
    • Remember to attend the Volunteer Appreciation Party each semester you have volunteered.
