Emmanuel Appiah, PhD

I have been working for a governmental organization in the Washington DC metro area for over 17 years. My professional experience spans from the Federal, State, local governments as well as the private industry. Online and classroom education have been an integral part of my life for decades. Specifically, I enjoy the independence, agility, challenges, and the real-life interactions which enhance students’ academic, professional, and spiritual life. I enjoy teaching and mentoring and look forward to working with you in this endeavor. I am the founder and managing consultant of Ghamerica Financial Consulting, LLC, CPAs, located in Manassas, Virginia. My areas of expertise include auditing, forensic accounting, taxation, fraud examination, internal control evaluations, and management accounting. I earned my Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree with a concentration in Advanced Accounting from Northcentral University. My dissertation topic was: Exploring the Perceptions of Northern Virginia Accountants on Internal Control Weaknesses Resulting in Accounting Fraud. Additionally, I earned an MBA from the University of Central Missouri, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Thomas Edison State University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Evangel University. I have received continued professional education in financial accounting from Harvard University and have completed Strategic Cost Analysis, Executive program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). My professional certifications and licenses include Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). Since March 2008, I have been a concurrent member of the Editorial Advisory Boards for the AICPA publication Journal of Accountancy and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners publication Fraud Magazine. Additionally, I am a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners Advisory Council I am married and have three sons. I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, mentoring and teaching.
