Mustafa Sarsilmaz, MD, Ph.D.

Dr. Mustafa Sarsilmaz graduated as a medical doctor from Gulhane Medical Faculty of Ankara, Turkey.
He received his Ph.D. degree (Specialist of Anatomy) from Turkey’s top Medical School, the University of Hacettepe, Ankara, Turkey.
Then he went to London and worked for two years with the team of P.K. Thomas and Don Grieve in the Royal Free School of Medicine in London, United Kingdom.
Afterward, he worked as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and full Professor at different Universities in Turkey.
He taught mostly Human Anatomy and Neuroanatomy to undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students, but besides teaching, he supervised many students and designed practical programs for new graduates.
At the moment, Dr. Sarsilmaz is a Professor of Anatomy and the Dean of Health Sciences Institute at Virginia International University.
He has been professionally involved in the field of human anatomy education and dissection since 1986.
Dr. Sarsilmaz has concentrated on the experimental study as well as the human anatomy.
With more than 100 peer-reviewed articles, Dr. Sarsilmaz is a leading expert on anatomy worldwide, widely quoted by scholars of medicine, and contributed with original research that made changes in the medical world.
Dr. Sarsilmaz has two text books on Human Anatomy.
He has been awarded the highest distinctions and honors in Turkey and internationally, ranked at 397 of the best academicians in Turkey, out of 5000. (The Ranking of Scientists in Turkish Institutions according to their Google Scholar Citations public profiles, October 16, 2016.)
His work has been acknowledged by Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) as among the most original and game-changing researches in the field of medicine, rating him 22 in the h index in scholar citations, with 11147 citations.
